Two minutes, ten questions

Your protective pattern

Most couples know the way their conflict goes — a well-worn pattern of interactions that was established even before you met.

These ten questions ask what you do in the moments it stops going well. There is nothing to score and nothing to submit — at the end you get a description of your pattern, in plain words.

Before you start. This assumes the fear in your relationship comes from old patterns rather than present danger. If you are afraid of your partner — if you are being hurt, threatened, controlled, or monitored — that is not a pattern to score.

The National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788, or thehotline.org. They can also advise on clearing your browsing history.
